ART & DESIGN | uncanny ambiguity: Toilet Paper Magazine

Toilet Paper Magazine is a bi-annual, photo-based publication by Marizio Cattelan, an artist, and Pierpaolo Ferrari, a photographer. They collaborated on a photoshoot for W Magazine in 2009 and worked on a new publication for themselves, inwhich Toilet Paper Magazine was born in 2010.

Toilet Paper Magazine is known for their beautiful yet grotesque and crude images, with bright, bold, in-your-face colours and derivative style. It plays on the vernacular of commercial photography with a twisted, sometimes ambiguous narrative. Its photographs contain retro and surrealist styles scattered throughout, creating a "tableaux" or "living scenery".
Toilet Paper Magazine also works with other designers to produce capsule collections and other paraphernalia, such as Seletti tableware.

In a 2013 collaboration, they worked with fashion label Kenzo to produce various editorials and KENZINE, Kenzo's limited-edition publication, harnesses the strengths of both design firms to produce an eye-catching publication and collection.

What do you think of Toilet Paper Magazine's content? Do you like it as much as I do?

Till next time,
Yolande
