ALBUM ART CRUSH | Deerhunter, "Microcastle / Weird Era Cont."

"Microcastle / Weird Era Cont." is a double-album by American indie-rock band Deerhunter. Released in 2008, this album is the critically-acclaimed follow-up to their debut, "Cryptograms".

Designed by Deerhunter frontman Bradford Cox with pictures by Alex Rose, the album cover features a salmon-hued portrait and a skull in the place of the left eye.

The gatefold LP has two vinyls, with Microcastle on one vinyl and Weird Era Cont. on the other. I personally prefer the Microcastle one! The opening instrumental "Cover Me (Slowly) is a dreamy, lush number that continues straight to the next track, "Agoraphobia". Neither of Us, Uncertainly" definitely showcases guitarist Lockett Pundt's singing and song-writing as well.

In line with the album's cover, the insert booklet of the CD version has some very dreamy imagery too:

The entire album is such a gem in terms of both sound and artwork, and I find myself returning to it over and over again. This would be a great addition to any record collection, and I'm eyeing this to be my next purchase very soon.

Till next time,
Yolande
